I began my glass journey at a young age, around 6 with my dad, by making stained glass Christmas ornaments for my teachers. He had made pieces for our home and I was always enthralled by the interplay of light, color, and glass while sitting at our kitchen table. I saw hot glass for the first time when I was around 11 and it absolutely captivated me, however I didn’t start blowing glass until much later; after I dropped out of college to start apprenticing at a local glass studio in Dallas. But as we all do, I caught the bug and then decided to pursue and was subsequently awarded a BA degree in Glass, Ceramics, Jewelry and Metal at the University for the Creative Arts Farnham in the United Kingdom. For the past five years I have been working at a studio in the Houston area and I cannot imagine doing anything else with my life. Even after severely injuring my hand and thinking I’d never blow glass again, I did everything within my power to get myself back into the studio. Now I don’t want to wait around until I think I’m ready for something, I want to push myself and accomplish my goals. I won’t let anything hold me back now.
